Frequently Asked Questions

(Q) What type of animals do you pet sit?

We have experience pet sitting with cats, dogs, rabbits, fish and pockets pets too. If you have pets other than the ones mentioned, please call us and we'll be happy to accommodate you.

(Q) Do you pet sit in your home or ours?

All pet visits are provided in our clients home only.

(Q) Will you take care of my dog exclusively 24/7?

No, our services are only offered 8:30am to 2:30pm and 6:00pm to 9:30pm. Due to the number of clients we have, we are not able to care for just one client at a time.

(Q) Are you Insured and Bonded?

Yes, we have pet sitting coverage through Verge Insurance

(Q) Can a family member, friend or neighbour share the pet visit responsibilities?

No, this can create confusion like over-feeding, unlocked doors, lost keys or missed feedings. We cannot be responsible for any sitting assignment where others are going to share the workload.

(Q) Can you come every other day to visit my cat instead of daily visits?

We can, however, for health and safety reasons we prefer to visit every day.

(Q) How do you schedule your visits?

All of our clients are required to book their services through our online software, Time to Pet.  We book based on a 2 hour time frame. Although you have to select a time when requesting, once we approve your request, there are still a number of things we take into, are the pets on medication, do they have access to the outdoors, are the owners out of town vs at work for the day etc.

(Q) What happens if my pet becomes ill while I am away?

During the initial consultation you will be required to sign our terms and condition form , which will authorizes us to take your pet for veterinary care in your absence. All bills will be paid by the client upon their return home or credit card over the phone. Pets will only be taken to the vet if it is deemed serious or an emergency. We will always attempt to contact the owners anytime a pet is ill.

(Q) Do you visit pets that require medication?

Yes, we will administer medication in pill, cream, and liquid form only.  We will administer Sub Q fluids as well, however, we will not administer insulin, unless in the maintenance phase. Demonstration are required should an injection be needed as all pets react differently.

(Q) What happens if I will be delayed in returning home from my vacation?

It is very important that you let us know as soon as possible if you will be arriving home late. As we will continue caring for your pets until you arrive home and we hear from you. This way you do not need to worry, should you be delayed for any reason.

(Q) Can you provide updates on how our pets are doing?

Yes, we would be happy to send you a visit report along with a picture after every visits to let you know how your loved one is doing.

(Q) What is the "key ready program" and why do you recommend it to repeat clients?

The optional "key ready program" ensures that with one phone call prior to your departure, your pets and home will be looked after. The key ready program is especially convenient for those who need to travel on short notice. We keep your key on file, which is specially coded and locked in a safe. The Program is free if you
choose to leave your key on file during the initial consultation. Otherwise there is a fee of $15 to pick it up or drop it off.

(Q) Can I leave my keys with a neighbour, friend or relative?

No, keys must be handed directly to a Purr-fect Paws representative, which will give us the chance to make sure the keys work. When factoring other people there is always a chance that they may forget that we are coming for the key, or may loose them.

(Q) Will Purr-fect Paws walk my dog off leash?

No, for their safety all dogs are walked on a leash.

(Q) Do you charge a cancellation fee?

Yes, if you should need to cancel our services, you will avoid paying cancellation fees if you notify us by 8am the day services are to begin. Otherwise you will be invoiced for the cost of the visit.

(Q) What happens if you can not make a scheduled pet sitting visit?

We will try to give you as much notice as possible if we are not able to make a visit. It will be your responsibility to find a replacement for that visit.
